Hawaii Picking up Steam

As evidenced by yet another grant in support of opening up a residential rehabilitation facility in Hawaii, Narconon Hawaii continues its renovations of the building to make it an ideal setting for someone to rebuild their lives in a serene environment. A news article reported that Friends of Hawaii Charities, Inc. awarded $10,000 to Narconon Hawaii for the implementation of their New Life Detoxification Program. It's possible that the center will be open by the end of this year.

The Untouchable

Throughout the years there have been a few opponents of Narconon drug education because they seek to educate kids about all drugs, not just street drugs. Leading the charge of Narconon drug education and prevention over at least the last couple of decades has been Bobby Wiggins. This guy has literally traveled the world and has personally spoken to over 1 million kids in an effort to keep them off drugs and save their lives. If anyone ever questions the integrity of this program, one only has to look as far as Wiggins and his actions. His dedication and personal contact is untouchable.

Another Program Supports Narconon's Method

Baldwin Research has done an extensive amount of research and writing on the history of drug addiction treatment and its lack of results traditionally. They have developed their own social educational model, but it is only six weeks long and doesn't address the biophysical aspects of addiction. From a project in 1991 Baldwin Research wrote about Narconon and they have posted it on their website. There are plenty of facts and statistics throughout the site supporting their claims, both for a social education method of rehabilitation as well as against traditional medical or psychiatric treatment.

Update on Wikipedia

After doing some research, more information was uncovered about the Wikipedia problem. There are a few individuals, whose names will not be listed but could be found with the right searches, who have formed a specific anti-Scientology group as editors on Wikipedia. They have developed a series of negative pages on anything having to do with Hubbard, including Narconon, and actually control any edits done to those pages. We have a report of someone posting an edit to the Narconon page in Wikipedia, and it was denied by one of these editors, because they would only allow additions to the information, not removal of any of the out-dated, negative media articles that have since been proven false. The editor who responded to the change has a username of "Smee" and has a sign on his info stating he blongs to the group mentioned in this posting. It is actually a form of censorship, unknown to the general public, that presents this information as being unbiased and factual. The real truth of the matter is that this small group of people seized control of it early on and no factual positive information about Narconon will ever be allowed to be posted unless they are removed.

Support for Drug-Free Treatment

Throughout the 40+ year history of Narconon, it has been proud to be a drug-free program. In fact, Narconon literally manes NARCotics-NONe, or "no drugs". There has been a great push among organized groups like harm reduction and even the federal government to put people on methadone to get them off of heroin. Narconon has been saying that methadone is a dangerous and deadly drug for many years, but it isn't until recently that the increasing number of methadone deaths has been getting national attention. Wikipedia One-Sided

Wikipedia is a great tool for many readers to find out information for free on various topics. It is a collaborative process where anyone can write an article and edit a page. The problem is that so far nobody has gone in and put positive in formation about Narconon in Wikipedia. If they have, then some anti-Narconon person keeps going back and editing it again and again. So, if you are a Narconon supporter, you are encouraged to edit the Wikipedia page about Narconon and enter some helpful, positive information about the organization.

One small example is that it lists arrests of Narconon staff in Italy and Spain nearly twenty years ago, citing governmental disapproval. This was clearly another deceitful attack where Narconon was fully exonerated once the truth came out. Proof of that is the fact that there are two Narconon centers in Spain and several more in Italy.
